9 March 1967 - The Tipton Conservative

Last rites for Clarence W. Kuhn, 71, a long-time Tipton businessman, were held March 6 at the Methodist church with the Rev. Ernest Lauer officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wayne Miller, Charles Gibbons, Max Nebergall, J. S. Hall, Max Crawford and Merl Carroll. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist. The Dye funeral home was in charge.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. C. H. Banks, Henry Walters, C. H. Leabhart, Wilbur Donohue, L. E. Aker, George Fraseur, Russell Willer, William Schneekloth and Ora Mayes. The Tipton American Legion conducted military services at the grave.

Mr. Kuhn died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, March 4. He had been in the hospital for several days, following a heart attack.

The son of Louis and Carrie Blaufuss Kuhn, he was born Nov. 5, 1895 in Creston. He graduated from Tipton high school and attended the University of Iowa.

He was married to Margaret K. Dinsmore at Chicago, Ill., April 30, 1923.

Mr. Kuhn had operated a hardware and appliance store in Tipton since 1920.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge, the American Legion and First United Church of Christ. He was in the army during World War I, serving in France.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. J. E. (Muriel) Lindsay, Williamsville, N. Y., a twin brother, Clyde Willard, Pomona, Calif. and 2 grandchildren, Sara and Marc Lindsay.
