Funeral services for Martin Joseph Sullivan, 79, Iowa City, were held Dec. 23 at Iowa City with burial in Memory Gardens there. Mr. Sullivan died unexpectedly Dec. 21 after a sudden illness.

He was born Dec. 10, 1887, in Cedar county, the son of Daniel and Mary Ann Kelly Sullivan. He married Caroline Gerlits in Iowa City, April 26, 1911.

He graduated from West Branch high school and farmed near West Branch until moving to Iowa City in 1935. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Iowa City and the Eagles and Moose Lodges.

Surviving are his widow; 2 sons, Francis, Des Moines and John, Coralville; 4 daughters, Mrs. Herman (Bernice) Parrott, Iowa City, Mrs. William J. (Irene) Zenishek, Solon; Mrs. John (Marguerite) Kaalberg, West Liberty and Mrs. Fred (Marie) Meyers, Stanwood; 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
