Funeral services for Orville S. Smith, 83, a native of Bennett, were held in the Methodist church in Bennett Dec. 17. Burial was in Inland cemetery. Mr. Smith died Dec. 14 at Muscatine General hospital.

Mr. Smith was born in Bennett June 28, 1883. He married Laura Piersall of Davenport Dec. 8, 1910 in Bennett. She preceded him in death.

Surviving are 5 sons, Chester and Lester Smith, both of Muscatine; DeWayne, West Liberty; Floyd, Tacoma, Wash. and Eugene of Alaska; 4 daughters, Mrs. Clarence Learned, Kinross; Mrs. Harvey Schmidt, Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Kathryn Hart, Linwood, Calif. and Mrs. Robert Rockefeller, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; 37 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Lillie Barrett and Mrs. Nellie Mowry, both of Bennett.
