Funeral services for Mrs. Walter G. Johnston, 51, a Mechanicsville school teacher, were held Dec. 15 at the Presbyterian church in Mechanicsville with the Rev. George Gallaher officiating.

Clarence Maher, Merwyn Boots, John Sauer, Gorman Robinson, Donald Davidson and Howard Rinehart were pallbearers. The Presbyterian church choir sang.

Mrs. Johnston died Dec. 12 at University hospital. She had been in ill health for a year.

Dorothy Marie Richardson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Richardson, was born in Coggon May 3, 1915 and attended Brush Hill grade school, Delhi high school and Lennox college at Hopkinton.

She was married to Walter Johnston at the Buck Creek Methodist church June 12, 1935.

She was a member of the choir of the Mechanicsville Presbyterian church, taught in the Bible school for several years and was a part-time treasurer of the Sunday school. She was also a member of the U.P.W. circles. She taught in third grade at the Mechanicsville school.

She is survived by her husband, 5 children, Mrs. Joan Cross, Cedar Rapids; Donald, Marion; Paul, in the Navy and Beverly and Walter Jay at home; her mother, Mrs. Ruby Richardson, Manchester; 2 brothers, Walter Richardson, Hopkinton and Richard Richardson, Marion and a grandchild, Sandra Cross, Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her father and 2 children, William S. and Janet R.
