Funeral services for William Thimmes, 75, were held at Mechanicsville Dec. 1, with the Rev. James Nelson officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. Thimmes died suddenly Nov. 29 at his home in Mechanicsville.

The son of John and Martha Kohl Thimes, he was born May 21, 1891 at Iowa City. A Veteran of World War I, he was a painter and butcher until he retired.

He was married to Ruby Edith Gibson Nov. 24, 1920 at Redfield, S.D. The couple lived most of the married life in the Mechanicsville community. Mrs. Thimmes died several years ago.

Surviving are 3 sons, Gene Edward, Melvin Dean and Mervin Dale, all of Mechanicsvile and 2 daughters, Mrs. Homer (Marjorie) Curtis, Shellsburg and Mrs. Ronald (Betty) Armstrong, Clarence.
