17 November 1966 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Sherman Lewis Bolton, 87, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Schenck officiating. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mr. Bolton died at his home in Tipton Nov. 15, following a lingering illness.

Last rites for Sherman Lewis Bolton, 87, were held Nov. 18 at the Sheets and Son Funeral home in Tipton, with burial in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. The Rev. Ralph Schenck officiated.

Pallbearers were Francis and Harold Bolton, Dick Erienbaugh, Harold Eungerer, Eugene Lehmkuhl and Dick Fields. Laura Geller was organist.

Mr. Bolton died at his home in Tipton Nov. 15 after a lingering illness.

The son of John Henry and Cornelia Culver Bolton, he was born Sept. 6, 1879 on a farm near Tipton. He was married to Maggie May Flater at Hazel Green, Wis. Jan. 3, 1899.

He was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county and was a farmer in the Tipton area for many years until he retired. He was a member of First United Church of Christ.

Mr. Bolton is survived by 2 sons, Donald, Hawkeye and Chester, Marion; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Stobart, Tipton; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Nena Cheney.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 3 sons, a daughter, 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
