Final rites for Orie Williams, 78, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 1 at the Sheets and Son Funeral home with the Rev. Harold Gillaspie in charge. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery.

Pallbearers were Udel Holderman, Nile Rosell, Earl Laing, Gerald Stout, Parson Hines and Walter Statts. Mrs. Richard Palmer was vocalist and Mrs. Max Phelps organist. Mrs. Udell Holderman and Mrs. Nile Roszell were in charge of flowers.

Williams died at his home at Cedar Valley May 29 after a short illness.

The son of Theodore and Martha Miskimen Williams, he was born Nov. 4, 1887 at Shellsburg and was educated in the rural schools of the county. He was married to Ethel Pierce in Tipton Dec. 20, 1931.

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Chauncey Butler post of the American Legion at West Branch. He lived in the Cedar Valley area most of his life and was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel; 2 sons, Marvin, Tipton and Ted, Cedar Rapids; 3 daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Margery) Lee, Camp. Calif.; Mrs. LaVern (Betty) Tacy, Quincy, Calif.; Mrs. Dan (Bernice) Ray, West Branch; a nephew, Earl Williams, West Branch, who was raised by Mr. Williams and 15 grandchildren.
