Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Anna Melson, 84, will be held at 3 p.m. today (June 2) at the Sheets and Son Funeral home with Rev. Eugene Miller in charge. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jack Leverenz, John Naber, Prentice York, Henry Kensinger, Robert Blakesley and Carl Weinfurter. Laura Geller will be organist. Mrs. Prentice York and Mrs. Herman Helmold will be in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Melson died May 30 at the Crestview nursing home at West Branch following a lingering illness.

The daughter of Jacob and Esther Reed Kensinger, she was born Nov. 10, 1881 in Tipton and attended the Cedar county rural schools. She was married to Alfred Orien Melson Jan. 25, 1899.

A resident of Cedar county throughout her life, she was a former member of the Rochester Methodist and the Evangelical and Reformed church, Tipton. She had been at the Crestview nursing home for 18 months.

She is survived by 2 sons, Mearl, San Juan, Texas and William, Tipton; 4 daughters, Mrs. William (Maude) Naber, Tipton; Mrs. Rudolph (Dorothy) Weinfurter, Arpin, Wis.; Mrs. Alvin (Blanche) Christensen, West Branch and Mrs. Bert (Frances) Blakesley, Elkhorn, Wis.; a brother, Henry Kensinger, Tipton; 24 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1948, 2 brothers, a son, Weston and 2 grandsons.
