21 November 1963 - The Anamosa Eureka

MECHANICSVILLE - Melvin Albert Sklasky, 50, Mechanicsville, died Friday, Nov. 8, at his home, following a lingering illness.

Rosary was recited Monday, Nov. 11, at 8 p.m., at the Morgan Funeral home, Lisbon.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's church, Mechanicsville. Burial was in the Mount Vernon cemetery.

Pallbearers included Clifford Hansen, James Gray, John Woods, Harold Longerbeam, Fred Mizaur and Eugene Hampton.

He was born Oct. 18, 1913, son of Rudolph and Bessie Benashek Skalsky, Linn county. He was married May 1, 1940, to Lorene Thuman, at Anamosa.

He had lived his married life on farms in Anamosa, Springville, Mount Vernon and Mechanicsville.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene; three daughters, Shirley Ellen Skalsky, Long Beach, Calif.; Barbara Jean, Mrs. Norman Boyles, Lemoore, Calif.; and Sandra Lorraine, at home.

Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. William Sedlacek, Cedar Rapids; a half sister, Mrs. Chester Bolton, Marion; and one grandson, Brian Scot Boyles.
