September 12, 1963 - The Anamosa Eureka

STANWOOD--Mrs. Sophia Anna Stolte, 65, Stanwood, died Saturday, Sept. 7, at her home following a month's illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Stanwood. Rev. Theodore Eickelberg conducted the service. Burial was in Lowden cemetery.

Pallbearers included Leroy Gade, Duane Greve, Harold Hensch, Larry Stolte, Roland Wenndt, and Ray Moeller, nephews of Mrs. Stolte.

She was born Dec. 7, 1897 at Lowden, daughter of Ernest and Louise Broecking Sieling. She was married to Hugo Stolte, Sept. 2, 1920, in the Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden. She spent her life in the Tipton and Martelle areas and retired to Stanwood after farming in Cedar and Jones counties.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Stanwood.

Survivors include her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Odlan Kuchel, Morley; Mrs. Donald Henrickson, Bennett; Mrs. James Blythe, Martelle; two sons, Hilbert Stolte, Olin; and Elmer Stolte, Martelle; 16 grandchildren and one great grandson. Two sisters are Mrs. Freida Gade, Lowden; and Mrs. Anna Greive, Lowden; two half-sisters, Miss Dorothy Boerier, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Floyd Hansen, Lowden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one sister and brother, and three grandchildren.
