Peter Espensen, 72, a former longtime West Branch resident, died Dec. 31 at his home in McAllen, Texas, after a short illness.

Mr. Espensen was born May 6, 1893, at Aarbus, Denmark, moving to the United States at an early age.

He was married to Minnie Marie Nielsen Aug. 1, 1917, at Tipton. He lived in the West Branch area until 1941, when he moved to Texas.

He was a member of the McAllen Lutheran church, a charter member of the Elks Lodge No. 1402, and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 1110.

Survivors include his widow; 4 sons, Herbert L., West Branch, Dr. L. L. and John L., both of McAllen and Kenneth L., Tyler, Texas; 2 brothers, Espen and Harold, both living in Denmark; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
