Alvin Leese, 51, Durant hatchery operator, died Dec. 23 at his home in Durant. Death was due to a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Dec. 27 at Davenport with E. R. Garred of Gloria Dei Lutheran church officiating. Pallbearers were Dallas Jurgens, Lloyd Bartscher, Arnold Glaser, Arnold Miller, Norman Wuestenberg and Elmer Makoben. Burial was in Davenport.

Mr. Leese was born July 16, 1914 in Cedar county and was a lifetime resident of Durant. He operated the Leese Hatchery and Garden Center, was a director of the American Poultry association and was a poultry judge throughout the United States and Canada.

He was a graduate of Durant high school and a member of the Durant Lutheran church.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marguerite Cole, to whom he was married Aug. 22, 1936. Also a son, Roger, Bettendorf; his father, John Leese, Wilton Junction, a brother, Leonard, Durant; 3 sisters, Mrs. Harry (Lena) Bailey and Mrs. Johannes (Minnie) Jurgens, Davenport and Mrs. Frank (Ella) Feldhahn, Durant.

His mother and a brother preceded him in death.
