Last rites for Mrs. Alvin (Maxine Mae) Hoffman, 43, were held Nov. 20 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. George Gallaher officiating. Pallbearers were Keith Fields, Dewey Petersen, Fred Kaufmann, Glenn Oldorf, Horace Overbaugh and Thomas Walshire.

Laura Geller was organist and Mr. and Mrs. John Donohoe and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Petersen were in charge of flowers. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mrs. Hoffman died Nov. 17 at Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a lingering illness.

The daughter of Harvey and Florence Everett Petersen, she was born at West Liberty May 13, 1922 and was educated in the rural Cedar county schools. She was married to Alvin Hoffman Dec. 12, 1939.

They farmed in the Atalissa, Clarence and for the past 7 years, in the Mechanicsville area.

She is survived by 3 sons, Gene and James, Mechanicsville and Jerry, Davenport; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Petersen, Atalissa, a brother, Francis Petersen, Atalissa and a sister, Mrs. Fred (Joyce) Kaufmann, Wilton Junction.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962.
