18 November 1965 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Alvin Pierce, 52, will be held at the First Methodist church in Tipton at 2 p.m. today (Thursday). The Rev. Eugene Miller will officiate. Sheets and Son are in charge.

Pallbearers are Everett Cone, John Hipple, Cecil Mathias, Marvin McCroskey, Walter Behrens and Norwin Martens. Mrs. Richard Palmer is vocalist and Mrs. Irma Crawford is organist. Mrs. Everett Cone and Mrs. John Hipple are in charge of flowers. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mr. Pierce died unexpectedly at his home Nov. 15.

The son of Walter and Hazel Hepner Pierce, he was born Dec. 18, 1912 at Tipton and was educated in the Tipton schools. He was married to Kathryn Moore in Rock Island, Ill., Feb. 18, 1933. He farmed in the Tipton area most of his adult life. He was a member of the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Mickey) Bohr, Lisbon; his mother, Mrs. Hazel Pierce, Rochester; a brother, Robert, Rochester; a sister, Mrs. Andrew (Roberta) Achenbach, North English; 2 granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
