Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Marie Smith, 70, were held June 7 at the Sheets and Son funeral home in Tipton with the Rev. Homer Perry of the United Church of Christ, Wilton Junction, officiating. Interment was in Oakdale cemetery, Wilton Junction.

Pallbearers were Lance Smith, Robert Whitmer, Joe Sedlacek, Hilbert Marolf, Emmor Webb and George Roberts. Mrs. Robert Whitmer and Mrs. Hilbert Marolf were in charge of flowers and Laura Geller was organist.

Mrs. Smith died after a lingering illness at the home of her son, Heath Smith, Rapid City, South Dak.

The daughter of Frank and Mae Pratt Baker, she was born Oct. 8, 1894, in Tipton and educated in the rural Cedar county schools. She was a sales clerk in several Cedar Rapids department stores and moved from Tipton in 1955, making her home with her son for the past 10 years.

She is survived by her son; 2 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clarence Baker, Wilton Junction and Joseph Baker, Galesburg, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Vera) McCoy, Wilton Junction.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and a brother.
