Services were held June 8 at the Griffith funeral home, Wilton Junction, for Charles L. Martin, 85, lifelong resident of Cedar county. He died at his home in Tipton June 5 after a lengthy illness. The Rev. Walter Martin officiated and Mrs. Emma Kiser was vocalist. Interment was in Oakdale cemetery, Wilton Junction.

Pallbearers were Ernest Brammeier, Alex Frost, Carl Lauer, Albert Maurer, Arthur Sessler and Clifford Tisinger. Mrs. Alex Frost, Mrs. Ernest Brammeier and Mrs. Joe Johnson were in charge of flowers.

The son of Henry and Wilhemina Hass Martin, he was born March 8, 1880, in Farmington township and married Myrtle Lee Jan. 28, 1913, in Davenport. He was a retired farmer, who had lived in Tipton the past 8 years.

Survivors include his wife, a son, Wayne, West Liberty; 2 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
