Last rites for Charles Leatherby, 86, former Tipton businessman, were held in Pomona, Calif., May 15, with burial in Pomona. Mrs. Leatherby died May 12 at a rest home in Pomona.

Born Oct. 2, 1888, in Birds, Ill.; he operated an appliance and gift shop in Tipton for many years, last in the building now occupied by the Drs. Nuccio. He had lived in Bennett before coming to Tipton.

He moved to Pomona, Calif., in 1947 where he operated a radio and television repair shop for 14 years. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Rebekah lodge in Pomona and the Odd Fellows lodge in Tipton.

He is survived by his widow, the former Bertha Casterline, who lives at 763 Fernleaf Ave., Pomona; a daughter, Dorothy Knight, Santa Clara, Calif.; 2 sons, Paul, Florisant, Mo., and Melvin, Des Moines,; a brother, W. W. Leatherby, Covina; 4 half sisters, Olive Schiebe and Irene Gibbs, Denver, Colo.; Gladys Vallely, Des Moines; Helen Burkman, Phoenix, Ariz., and 10 grandchildren.
