Funeral services for Clara McCaw Laird, 80, were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 16 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in Pee Dee cemetery east of Springdale.

Pallbearers were Paul Osborn, Palmer Holden, William Butterbrodt, Bob Taylor, Fred Schnipkoweit and Harlan Dugger, all members of the Moose lodge. Mrs. Richard Palmer was vocalist and Mrs. Irma Crawford, organist. The women of the Moose conducted graveside services.

Mrs. Laird died March 13 at the Woode Nursing home after a lingering illness.

The daughter of Oliver and Emma Paddock McCaw, she was born near Olney, Ill., Sept. 7, 1884 and attended the rural Richland, Ill., schools. Mrs. Laird was divorced.

Mrs. Laird had been a resident of the Tipton community since 1912. She was a member of the West Branch Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of the Tipton Moose lodge.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Clayton (Claribel) Moore, Bettendorf; 2 brothers, Glen C. and William H. McCaw, both of Claremont, Ill., a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
