Funeral services for Edward W. Barnes, 83, were held March 15 at the Sheets and Son funeral home, with Gordon Smith officiating. Laura Geller was organist.

Pallbearers were Thomas Barnes, Lars Larson, Leonard Port, Francis Mahoney, Leonard Dice and Lowell Horn. Burial was in Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mr. Barnes died March 11 at the Tipton Custodial home after a lingering illness.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. William Barnes, he was born May 1, 1881 in Indianapolis, Ind. and attended the Indianapolis schools. He had been a resident of the Tipton community since1900 and had worked as a laborer.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
