December 24, 1964 - The Tipton Conservative

Last rites for Mrs. Mary A. Holling, 77, were held at the Dye funeral home in Tipton Dec. 20, with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Pallbearers were Sylvan Wenndt, Seigfried Petersen, Wilbur Rorick, Walter Seebeck, Howard Murrison and Lawrence Wright.

Jeanne Schneider sang, with Mrs. Irma Crawford as organist. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery in Tipton.

Mrs. Holling died Dec. 17 at Mercy hospital in Davenport. She had been in the hospital for a week.

The daughter of Fritz and Adelina Rohlf Boettcher, she was born near Plainview Dec. 11, 1887 and attended county school near Bennett. She was married to Herman Holling in Davenport in 1910.

The couple first farmed east of Sunbury then near Bennett and New Liberty. In 1931 they moved to Durant, returning to Bennett in 1954. She moved to Tipton in 1960. She had made her home with her brother-in-law, Herman Ahrens, for the last 10 years.

She was a member of the Lutheran church in Durant from 1931 to 1954 and served as secretary and treasurer.

She is survived by 2 sons, Glen, Bennett and Ralph, Durant; 2 brothers, Fred and George Boettcher, Tipton, a sister, Emma Anderson, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, Ferdinand, and a sister, Mrs. Herman (Anna) Ahrens.
