Funeral services for Otto H. Brendes, 71, of Lowden, will be conducted from the Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden at 1:30 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Arthur Tinge officiating. Burial will be in the Lowden cemetery.

Mr. Brendes died in his home Tuesday afternoon of an apparent heart attack. He was born Aug. 21, 1893, son of Henry and Sophie Miller Brendes, and attended the rural schools near Lowden. He was married March 6, 1919 to Frieda Dehne of Lowden, and they farmed south of town until 1946, when they retired and moved into their present home in Lowden.

Mr. Brendes was a veteran of World War I, serving overseas. He was a member of Lillis Deerberg post No. 366 of the American Legion, and of Zion United Church of Christ.

Survivors include the wife, two sons, Ralph of Olin and Merle of Lowden; two brothers, Walter of Lowden and Elmer of Tipton; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Martha) Busching and Mrs. Fred (Amanda) Goldsmith, both of Clarence, and seven grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, a daughter, grandson, brother and sister.
