5 November 1964 - The Tipton Conservative

Last rites for Daniel Marango Rupe, 81, were held Nov. 2 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. E. H. Lauer officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Cecil Mathias, Frank Loomis, Tom Tipton, Joe Bishop and Everett Miller. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist and Ed Parsons and Mr. and Mrs. Gail Maurer were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Rupe died Oct. 30 at the home of his son Raymond, in Mechanicsville. His death was sudden, following a stroke.

The son of Issac and Jane Bicle Rupe, he was born near Hawarden Jan. 28, 1883 and was educated in the rural Hawarden schools. He was married to Bertha Marie Kaiser at Ainsworth, Nebr. March 22, 1909.

He had lived in and around Tipton for more than 30 years, farming near Central City from 1941 to 1946.

He is survived by 4 sons, Raymond, Mechanicsville; William, Swisher; Elmer and Harvey, Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. Chalmer (Irene) Keller, Tipton; 3 sisters, Mrs. Elsie Harbin, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mrs. Nelson (Ida) Landis, East Greenville, Pa.; Mrs. Belle Hendrix, Davenport, 8 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 6 brothers, 3 sisters and 2 sons in infancy.
