Funeral services for Alfred Hobendall, 81, a long-time resident of rural West Branch, were held Oct. 1 at the West Branch Methodist church, with the Rev. Charles F. Haigh officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Hobendall died Sept. 29 at his farm home east of West Branch after a long illness.

Mr. Hobendall was born Feb. 22, 1883, in Aasted, Denmark, the son of Chris and Maren Jensen. He came to the United States in 1906 and moved to the West Branch area to farm.

He was married to Clara Thompson Feb. 28, 1914, in West Branch. The couple farmed until her death in 1944.

He was a member and past master of the Wapsinonoc Masonic Lodge, 381, at West Branch.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Mary Alice) Heacock of West Branch; a brother, Louis of Onslow, and four grandchildren.
