Funeral services for Jacob (Jake) Lafrenz Jr., 76, will be held at the Sheets and Son funeral home at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) with the Rev. Harold Gillaspie of Trinity Lutheran church in charge. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jim Walton, Jim Butler, Vern Suchomel, Wilmar Williams, Wilbur Woode and Joe Conway. Mrs. Jack Macklin is vocalist and Mrs. Irma Crawford, organist.

Mrs. Wilmar Williams and Mrs. James Walton will be in charge of flowers.

Mr. Lafrenz died suddenly at his home in Tipton late Monday afternoon, Sept. 28.

The son of Jacob and Christian Stoltenberg Lafrenz, he was born at Walcott Nov. 29,1887 and was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county. He was married to Emma Lamp Feb. 21, 1912 at the Lutheran parsonage in Tipton. He was of the Lutheran faith.

He farmed in the Tipton and Clarence communities until he and wife wife retired in 1939 and moved to Tipton. However he had remained active until the time of his death and was employed by John Schneider.

He is survived by his wife and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother.
