Funeral services for Charles Schmidt, 68, will be held at Trinity Lutheran church in Lowden at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) with the Rev. Theo. J. Eichelberg officiating. Burial will be in Van Horne cemetery south of Lowden.
Mr. Schmidt died at 4:30 p.m. July 20 of a lingering illness.
The son of Charles and Minnie Butterbrodt Schmidt, he was born south of Lowden Aug. 7, 1895. He attended rural schools and the Lowden high school.
He was married to Minnie Sonnemaker of Clarence Dec. 4, 1917. They farmed on the Schmidt family farm until Mrs. Schmidt died in May, 1935. He and his children moved to Lowden in 1936 where he was manager of the Miller Feed store for several years.
Mr. Schmidt was married to Alvina Licht Dec. 31, 1951. Before becoming ill he was the night watchman at Lowden for many years.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Elmer, Lowden; 2 daughters, Mrs. Joe (Ruth) Mosteart, Oxford Junction and Mrs. Paul (Betty) Beaubry, Lost Nation; 9 grandchildren, and 3 sisters, Mrs. William Kahl and Mrs. Silvin Klahn, both of Lowden and Mrs. Roy Marks of Rowley.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, 2 sons and 2 brothers.
