Funeral services for John E. Shuger, 38, were held Thursday afternoon, July 2, at Zion Lutheran church, Wilton Junction with the Rev. John B. Nieman officiating. Mrs. Raymond Flesch was the organist.
Shuger drowned June 9 while on a fishing trip to Canada, and the body was recovered June 27.
He was born Aug. 17, 1925, to Charles and Elma Brammeier Shuger and married March 26, 1946 to Joyce Ovesen, also of Wilton Junction, in Oakland, Calif.
Survivors include his wife, 3 sons, Geoffrey, Kim and Scott and a daughter, Candi, all at home, 2 brothers, Alvin C. of Evansdale and Leo H., Wilton Junction. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a lifelong resident of Wilton and engaged in the insurance business.
Pallbearers were Raymond Moeller, Mervin Jipp, William Ryder, Raymond Flesch, T. K. Boyle and C. J. Davies.
Flower attendants were Mrs. Raymond Flesch, Mrs. Robert Sessler, and Mrs. Mervin Jipp. Robert Sessler, Hilbert Stoll, Harry Moeller, and Art Petersen served as ushers.
Military rites were conducted by the Wilton American Legion Post 584. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery.
