Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. July 14 at Zion Lutheran church in Wilton Junction for Herman Edward Grunder, 60, who died July 11 at his home near Wilton. It was his birthday.
He was born July 11, 1904 in Cedar county, to Peter and Elizabeth Jipp Grunder. He married Daisy Mae Duncan Oct. 2, 1926 in Muscatine. He was a member of Zion Lutheran church.
Survivors include his widow, a son, Donald and daughter, Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Koll, Muscatine; 7 grandchildren and 3 sisters, Mrs. Louis (Marie) Bender, Mrs. Morris (Rose) Maisenbach, and Mrs. Fred (Lydia) Bilkey, all of Muscatine. His parents and 2 sisters preceded him in death.
The Rev. John B. Nieman officiated, with burial in Oakdale cemetery. The organist was Herbert Waech, who accompanied the Lutheran male quartet, Marvin Jipp, Leo Grunder, Harold Grunder and Leo Shuger. Pallbearers were Donald Grunder, Richard Koll, William O'Brien, Raymond Duncan, Arthur Sessler and Herman Wacker.
