Service for Mrs. Laura Belle Schulze, 90, a former resident of the Tipton area, were held at the Dye Funeral home in Tipton June 20, with the Rev. John Hegarty of Cedar Rapids in charge. Pallbearers were Harry and Sam Hegarty, Mearl Bixler, Harold Maurer and Rodney and Steven Schulze.
Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist. An Eastern Star service was held. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.
Mrs. Schulze died June 17 at Des Moines.
The daughter of Robert L. and Martha Hegarty, she was born Jan. 18, 1874 and was married to John G. Schulze at Harmony Point church, south of Clarence. The couple homesteaded at Burke, S.D. and she helped found the first Eastern Star in that community. She also helped found the Burke Methodist church and was active in church work.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Floyd Borgstedt, Des Moines; 2 sons, Lyle, Redding, Cali8f. and J. Wesley, Glendale, W. Va., a brother, Grant Hegarty and a sister, Jessie Hegarty, both of Tipton; and 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
