Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at Sheets and Dahn for Charles C. Hipple, 78, longtime blacksmith in Tipton.

He died June 8 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Richard Zvacek in Cedar Rapids, following a 6-week illness.

Charles Coleman Hipple was born June 15, 1885 at Wilton Junction, the son of John Henry and Anna Hauck Hipple. He attended rural schools and Tipton Union school and had lived in Tipton for the past 50 years. He was married to Lena Olson Dec. 11, 1907 in Tipton.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Lester Hipple, Marion and Don Hipple, Arlington Heights, Ill.; 4 daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Helen) Kohl, Tipton; Mrs. Richard (Bessie) Zvacek, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Florence Milligan, Hammond, Ind.; Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Shanahan, Cedar Rapids, and 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

His parents and a half-brother preceded him in death.

The Rev. Eugene Miller will be in charge of services and pallbearers are Jack Kohl, Bob Kohl, Charles Zvacek, Allan Fluke, Don Hipple and William Yock. Mrs. Irma Crawford will provide music, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Blake are in charge of flowers. Interment is in South Bethel cemetery.
