Funeral services for Anders V. Mather, Sr., 71, prominent Cedar county cattleman, were held May 16 at Friends church, West Branch. Mrs. Irma Guthrie officiated. Burial was in Springdale cemetery.

Mr. Mather died May 14 at his home near Springdale, after a short illness.

Mr. Mather was born July 4, 1892, in Cedar county, the son of Samuel and Ellen Knutson Mather.

He was married Dec. 25, 1915, in Ann Arbor, Mich., to Alleta Zwickey.

Mr. Mather was a director of the First National bank at Tipton and a member of the Tipton Rotary club. A University of Iowa graduate, he was a member of the I club. He also belonged to the Society of Friends church in West Branch.

Mr. Mather was a wide traveler, and had taken a 21-nation tour last year.

Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Anders, Jr., West Branch; and Gene, Minneapolis, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Eye, Palo; 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother, one sister and an infant son.
