Funeral services for John B. Vaughan, 83, were held May 11 in the Dye funeral home with Rev. Omar Pettersen of the Lisbon Methodist church in charge. Mrs. Don Weih was organist and the Rev. Pettersen vocalist.

Pallbearers were David Hamilton, Phillip Hambright, Gene Weih, Hoyt Buttolph, Norman Rekemyer and Wilbur Eggert. Masonic services were held. Burial was in Inland cemetery near Bennett.

Mr. Vaughan died May 8 at the Grayson rest home in Des Moines after an extended illness.

The son of William and Anna Vaughan, he was born Aug. 14, 1880 in Wales. He was married to Ann Ella Sorgenfrey at Davenport Nov. 20, 1912. He lived in Iowa City as a young man and spent most of his life in the Bennett community.

Mr. Vaughan retired as vice-president of the Bennett State bank after serving for 42 years. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Bennett Methodist church.

He served on the Bennett school board for 40 years and retired as treasurer in 1962.

Mr. Vaughan is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Howard S. (Arline) Miller, Des Moines and Mrs. Robert (Jeanette) Van Houten, Eagle Grove; 3 grandchildren, Bruce Von Houten and Bowman and Leanne Miller and a brother, William. He was preceded in death by his wife and 4 sisters.
