March 26, 1964 - The Tipton Conservative

Last rites for Mrs. Sophia Nodurft, 69, were held in Durant March 16, the Rev. W. R. Garred of Gloria Dei Lutheran church officiating. Vocalist was Max Lauser. Casketbearers included Robert Nodurft, Jr., James Ebson, Harvey Dittmer, Lowell Scott, James Sorgenfrey and Milroy Meyer. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Mrs. Nodurft died March 12 in the Hawker nursing home at West Liberty following an extended illness.

The daughter of John and Doris Proesch, she was born Feb. 3, 1895, at Lowden. She was united in marriage to Marion A. Nodurft, Oct. 13, 1914. The couple was employed in the Oxford community until coming to Durant. Mrs. Nodurft had been a Durant resident for 43 years.

Survivors include her husband; 4 sons, Robert, Durant; Howard and Ernest, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and Raymond, The Dalles, Oreg.; a daughter, Mrs. Allen (Shirley) Thede, Laramie, Wyo.; 3 brothers: John, Ernest and Herman, Lowden; 4 sisters: Mrs. Lawrence (Annie) Schoff, Lowden; Mrs. Dewey (Gusta) Puls, Maynard; Mrs. Louis (Emma) Krutzfeldt, Lowden; and Mrs. Lena Stanlake, Davenport; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother and a daughter.
