Funeral services were held March 2 at West Liberty for Peter Belgard, 55, former Cedar county clerk of court and Tipton postmaster. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery at Tipton. Mr. Belgard died of a heart condition Feb. 28 at the home of his sister, Mrs. Martha Peters, at West Liberty.
Mr. Belgard was born on a farm near Tipton Dec. 5, 1908, the son of Charles E. and Anna Ocheltree Belgard. He was a graduate of Tipton high school and the University of Iowa.
He was a scale clerk at the Wendling Quarry, Moscow, where he had been employed 4 years.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias in West Liberty and the Moose Lodge, Iowa City.
Also surviving is another sister, Mrs. Dorothy Reeve of Tipton.
