Funeral services for Levi Norman Gritton, 87, will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller in charge. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers will be 6 grandsons: Roger, Norman, Darrell and Duane Gritton, James Dugger and Donald Hennings. Mrs. Wendell Willer will be vocalist and Mrs. Irma Crawford, organist. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Spear, Mrs. J. D. Cline and Mrs. Joe Conway will be in charge of flowers.

Mr. Gritton died Feb. 17 at the Wilton nursing home, Wilton Junction, following a lingering illness.

The son of Levi and Marie Russell Gritton, he was born April 14, 1876, in Cedar county and spent his life in the Cedar county area. He was married to Etta Estella Ford, May 30, 1900, at the Methodist parsonage in Tipton by the Rev. C. A. Piddicord. She died in 1944.

Mr. Gritton was a member of the South Bethel Methodist church. He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by 4 daughters: Mrs. John (Vella) Dickinson, Mrs. Archibald (Ethel) Safley, and Mrs. Harlen (Alberta) Dugger, all of Tipton; and Mrs. Dean (Gladys) Marolf, Iowa City; 5 sons: Walter and Vearl, Tipton; Harry, West Branch, and Howard and Albert, Lowden; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
