Walter L. Hain, 60, a native of Cedar county died at the Moline public hospital after an extended illness Jan. 29.

The son of Arthur M. and Maude Long Hain, he was born Dec. 18, 1901, in Cedar county. He had farmed in the Wilton Junction area, and had been a resident of Moline for 32 years, where he was a machinist with the Farmall Company at Rock Island, Ill.

He was married Nov. 2, 1943, at Moline to Florence Smith. He was a member of the United Church of Christ and Machinists Local Union 109.

Surviving are the widow, Florence Hain, Moline, Ill.; 3 sons, Arthur W. Hain, Davenport, Albert Irven, Phoenix, Ariz., and Marcus Irven, Bloomfield; 3 daughters, Mrs. E. R. (Dorothy) McCafferty, Naches, Wash., Mrs. George (Gloria) Whitford, Buena Park, Calif., and Mrs. Wayne Long, Wilton Junction; 3 brothers, Curtis, Milan, William, Tipton and Clarence, Durant; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Feb. 1 at Wilton Junction, with the Rev. Jos. Mayer in charge. Interment was at the Moscow cemetery.
