Funeral services for Bruce A. Thompson, Sr., 84, retired Cedar county farmer who died Feb. 8 at his home in West Branch were held Feb. 10 at the West Branch Methodist church.

The Rev. Charles Haigh officiated. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Thompson was born Dec. 21, 1877, at Lexington, Va., the son of Luke and Sallie Pring Thompson. Dec. 28, 1898, he married Lulu Siler in Washington, D.C., and they moved to the West Branch area, where they farmed until 1939.

Mrs. Thompson died in 1943 and Aug. 21, 1948, Mr. Thompson married Lila Rummells at West Branch. She survives.

Mr. Thompson was a member of the West Branch Methodist church.

Other survivors include 5 daughters, Mrs. Ruth Fitzsimmons, Davenport; Mrs. Hazel Butler, Inglewood, Calif., Mrs. Lucille Rummells, West Branch; Mrs. Gladys Madsen, Iowa City and Mrs. Floyd (Dorothy) Anderson, West Branch; a son, Bruce A. Thompson, Jr., of West Branch, 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
