Funeral services for Albert Jessie Kephart, 76, were held Feb. 5 at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home with Gordon Smith in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Guy Osborn, Mearl and Warren Christian, Herman Leabhart, Harold Weaver and Robert Pierce. Mrs. Jeanette Freese was in charge of flowers.

Mr. Kephart was found dead in his home on West Second street Saturday morning after neighbors became concerned since they had not seen him. Dr. Walter Kopsa, Cedar county medical examiner, placed the time of his death as Thursday night. It is believed that Kephart suffered a stroke.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. James Kephart, he was born in Cedar county April 27, 1885 and spent his life in the county. He worked as a gardener and as a laborer.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Alice Mitchell, Tipton; Mrs. Jack (Ruth) Murphy, Iowa City; 3 sons, Walter, West Branch; John, Waterloo, and Lester, Davenport; 2 sisters, Mrs. Rose Barkhurst, Iowa City, and Mrs. Minnie Cumstock, Waterville, Minn.; a brother, Floyd, Mankato, Minn.; 9 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, a sister and a brother.
