Funeral services for Edward L. McLain, 76, were held Dec. 5 at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home with Gordon Smith of Clarence in charge. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Willcutt, Francis Mahoney, Calvin Wilson, Kenneth Latimer, Dale Ehresman and Rex Berry.

Mr. McLain died Dec. 3 at the Utopia nursing home. He had been ill for several months.

The son of Israel and Elisabeth Miller McLain, he was born in Tipton May 2, 1887, and spent his life, with the exception of a few years in Davenport and Chicago, Ill., in this community.

He was married to Florence Purdy in Davenport in June, 1916. She died in 1957.

He worked as a laborer.

He is survived by a brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
