Funeral services for Charles Young, 63, Mechanicsville, were held Oct. 7 in the Mechanicsville Methodist church, with the Rev. Beaty McDonald officiating. Interment was in the Lisbon cemetery.

Mr. Young died Oct. 4 at Veterans' hospital in Iowa City after an illness of several months.

The son of Charles and Mary Young, he was born May 28, 1900 at State Center and was married to Sylvia Fisher Feb. 2, 1922. The couple farmed for many years, moving to Mechanicsville in 1945 where he worked as a carpenter.

He served in the army from 1917 to 1919 and was a post commander of the Busch-Dennis Legion post at Mechanicsville and a member of the Cedar County World War I Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, 4 sisters: Mrs. Henry Sivers, Martelle; Mrs. Glen Swift, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Albert Zenishek, Mechanicsville, and Mrs. Leo Woods, Mt. Vernon, and a brother, John, Mt. Vernon.
