Funeral services for Edwin L. Carlson, 67, were held July 30 at 2 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. George W. Fisher in charge.

Mr. Carlson, who came to Tipton in 1912, was a retired mail carrier. He died July 28 at his home, following an illness of 2 months. The son of John and Caroline Dahlstedt Carlson, he was born June 30, 1896 at Moline, Ill., and was married to Myrtle Makemson in Tipton Jan. 12, 1931.

Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Virginia Carlson, Houston, Tex.; Mrs. Frank (Beverly) Bartos, Washington, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Howard Noah of Port Byron, Ill.; a grandchild, 2 nieces and a nephew. His parents, a brother and sister preceded him in death.

He served in WWI in France and Belgium and was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in service. He was a charter member of the Tipton V.F.W. post. Interment was in Masonic cemetery with graveside services by the V.F.W. post.
