18 July 1963 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for C. F. W. Kleppe, 86, were held July 13 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence with Dr. C. W. Ebbert in charge. Burial was in Inland cemetery.

Pallbearers were Sylvan, Edward and Don Kleppe, Ralph and John Krummel, and Ralph Brendes. The mixed quartet sang. Rosalyn Kintzel was organist. Mrs. Arnold Pruess and Mrs. Harry Schott were in charge of flowers. The Chapman funeral home was in charge.

Mr. Kleppe died July 10 at a Tipton nursing home after an illness of about 2 weeks.

The son of Henry and Elizabeth Hinrichs Kleppe, he was born in Germany June 20, 1877 and came to the United States at the age of 11 with his parents. They settled in the Bennett community.

He was married to Katherine Brendes in Springfield township June 30, 1963. They farmed in the Clarence, area, moving to Clarence in 1918. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and was confirmed in Zion Evangelical church, Lowden.

He is survived by a son, Lawrence; 4 grandchildren; a brother, Fred, Tipton; 2 sisters, Mrs. Katherine Krummel, Tipton and Mrs. Minnie Laucamp, Bennett. He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant daughter, Inez; a son, Arnold in May, 1963 and 4 brothers and sisters.
