Funeral services for Otto W. Schlapkohl, 72, a Durant resident for the past 13 years, was held June 3 in Durant. Mr. Schlapkohl died May 30 in the Wilton Nursing Home following an extended illness. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

He was born Aug. 29, 1893 in Muscatine county, the son of George and Wilhelmina Schlapkohl and was married Adelia Hering March, 1916 in Davenport. The couple farmed one and a half miles southwest of Durant until retirement.

Mr. Schlapkohl is a former director of the Liberty Trust and Savings Bank, Durant and former president of Wilton township school board for 7 years.

Surviving are the wife; one son, Lester, of Durant; 3 daughters, Mildred, Riverside, Ill.; Mrs. Eldon (Dorothy) Paulsen and Mrs. Marlan (LuVerna) Schreck, both of Durant; one brother, John of Durant and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, one brother and one sister.
