Carrie Jeanette Hamilton, age 75, widow of Scott Hamilton, died early Friday, Feb. 28 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Forrest Rhoads, five miles south of Mechanicsville, following a lingering illness. She was born in Kansas on October 18, 1860, the daughter of John and Mary Campbell. Her parents moved to Camanche, Iowa three months later, where she lived until her marriage to Scott Hamilton January 12, 1880. They located on a farm near Elvira, Iowa, remaining there until 1903, when they moved to Stanwood.

Her husband preceeded her in death in 1918, and for the past ten years she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Forrest Rhoads.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Claney of Broken Bow, Neb.; Mrs. Foster Miller of Independence; Mrs. Forrest Rhoads of Mechanicsville; and one son, Harry Hamilton of Chicago.

Funeral services were held in Mechanicsville the following Monday. Burial was made in the cemetery at her old home in Elvira, Iowa.
