2 January 1936 - The Clarence Sun

Funeral services for Geo. E. Beatty, Civil War veteran, who died at the Soldiers Home in Marshalltown on Christmas eve, were held in the Methodist church at Tipton Friday afternoon with Rev. J. B. Ackman of Clinton officiating. Interment was made in the Masonic cemetery by the Tipton lodge of which he was a member.

Mr. Beatty was born in Cedar county on Nov. 1, 1845, and spent almost his entire life in this community. He was engaged in farming for many years and later was identified with many civic enterprises. He became a member of Cedar lodge, No. 11, A.F. & A.M. of Tipton on Dec. 28, 1868, and always held his membership there. He is believed to have held his membership in the same lodge longer than any other Iowa Mason.

His survivors include three sons, Floyd J. of Omaha, Albert of Minnesota and Ralph of Washington state.
