Mrs. Lottie May Hess, 87, died March 20 at a Tipton nursing home after a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of the Downey and West Branch community.

Funeral services were March 23 at the Downey Baptist church with the Rev. Noel Vose officiating. Burial was in the Downey cemetery.

She was born July 27, 1875, at Downey, a daughter of George F. and Mary Stebler Longerbeam. She was married to Frank Hess Sept. 30, 1900, at Downey. He died in 1941.

Mrs. Hess was a member of the Downey Baptist church, a charter member of the Friendship circle and a member of the Sunshine club, West Branch.

Survivors are a daughter, Gladyce Arline Hess, Downey; a sister, Eva Longerbeam, Downey, and two brothers, Koert, Los Angeles, Calif., and Charles of Kansas City, Mo.

A brother and a sister preceded her in death.
