Mrs. Emma Smith, 85, of West Branch died March 18 in a nursing home at West Liberty after an extended illness.

Funeral services were March 23 at the West Branch Methodist church with the Rev. Charles F. Haigh officiating. Burial was in West Branch cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born May 15, 1877, in Adair county, the daughter of Jacob and Rebecca Cook.

She was married to Sidney Smith May 21, 1900, at Stuart. He died in 1951.

She lived her entire life in West Liberty and West Branch, where she was a member of the Methodist church. She was a member of the Priscilla club and the Rebekah lodge at West Liberty.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
