Funeral services for Ferdinand (Ferd) Conrad, 58, were held March 23 in Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, following a prayer service in the family home south of Lowden. The Rev. Edwin Otte officiated. Burial was in the Lowden cemetery.

Mrs. V. L. Bright, Mrs. Walter Brendes, Mrs. Floyd Hansen and Mrs. Lorenz Deerberg sang, accompanied by Mrs. Lane Strackbein. Pallbearers were Silvin Klahn, Walter Klipp, Hugo Rowald, Irwin Steinke, George Scheeper and Delmar Giebelstein. Mrs. Rosemary Reitz and Mrs. Carol Speis had charge of the flowers.

Mr. Conrad died March 20, after an illness of several years.

The son of Dick and Augusta Eggert Conrad, he was born April 4, 1904 in Lowden and received his education in the Lowden school, Coe college and Iowa State University.

He was married to Esther Schroeder June 19, 1932. For 6 years he was associated with his father in the lumber business and then farmed northeast of Lowden. For 12 years he had farmed south of Lowden.

He was a life member of Zion United Church of Christ, served as president of the Church council from 1942 to 1945, was a member of the Church Brotherhood and a member of the choir for many years.

He had been a salesman for the DeKalb company for 9 years before he became ill.

He is survived by his wife; his parents; 2 sisters, Mrs. Charles (Olga) Buck, Tipton, Mrs. F. H. (Lydia) Strackbein, Lowden, and a brother, Edward, Lowden. He was preceded in death by a brother.
