Mrs. Clara G. Gruwell, formerly of West Branch, died at Pasadena, Calif., March 5. Born March 9, 1879, she was the daughter of Samuel and Martha Thomas. She was married to Will Gruwell Nov. 16, 1898. He died in 1934.

They were in the grocery business in West Branch for some time, moving to California 57 years ago. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and a member of the Women's Benefit Association.

She is survived by 2 sons, Ivan C. Gruwell, Monrovia and Roland, Pasadena, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Lucile) Schonborn, San Clemente, Calif.; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
