13 June 1890 - The Clarence Sun

On Tuesday of this week Mr. Joseph Wightman passed to the shores of that eternal home. Mr. Wightman had outlived the allotted four score years and ten, having passed his ninetieth birthday last December. He was a man whose mind was very active, and a constant student of the events that were daily transpiring in our history, and until recently his daily visits down town were a noticeable feature of his active life for one so far advanced in years. He leaves an aged companion to travel the rest of life's journey alone. They had no children of their own but adopted and raised Mrs. S. S. Camp with all the loving care that parents could bestow upon one of their own. The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon with services conducted by Rev. Downing at the late home of the deceased, and his remains now rest in the silent city on the hill, whose population is ever on the increase with the advances of time.
