13 June 1890 - The Clarence Sun

DIED--June 10th, 1890, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. M. Johnson, Belle Plaine, Iowa, of heart failure, in the eighty-first year of his age, Mr. E. E. Post.

Mr. Post was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y., April 25th, 1810, where he grew to manhood. In 1834 he was united in marriage with Sabrina S. Cobb, at Hewvelton, N.Y. For about 18 years they continued to reside in New York, where three sons and three daughters were born to them, and were also the oldest son, William Henry, died of scarlet fever. In 1852 he moved with his family to Ohio, where the youngest daughter was born. In 1859 he moved west and settled in Camanche, Iowa. During the great tornado in 1860, which swept away that town, his residence and principal household goods were entirely carried away. Fortunately the family were temporarily absent at that time. For about two years he lived in and near Fulton, Ill. He settled in Clarence in 1863 where his home has continued to be until during the past few years it has been with his daughter, where he died. He had been more or less intimately connected with the business interests of this place during most of the time he resided here. He leaves the wife, who has been his faithful helpmate for more than 50 years, and five children to mourn the death of a devoted husband and loving father.

The funeral service was held at the Presbyterian church yesterday, Rev. Downing officiating, assisted by Rev. Manning, and the remains were laid to rest in the beautiful city of the dead. There was an abundance of choice flowers at the church.
